Formerly known as DanceWorks, the UConn Dance Company originated in 2008. The Company is wholly managed by students ranging from choreography to backstage management. UDC encompasses various dance styles such as contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and modern. Thus, company members are well rounded dancers with influence from all sorts of dance backgrounds. Once a semester, the UConn Dance Company has the opportunity to showcase its talent at the Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts. Showcases consist of the Company’s various styles performed by the twenty-six accomplished members. Not only is the company involved in the dance realm, but are yearly participants in UConn’s HuskyTHON as well as other campus activities. While the company is a young organization, the company is excited for its progression and future expenditures.
