At the heart of Downtown Storrs is Betsy Paterson Square, "where the Mansfield community, the University, and the larger regional community find common ground."
Since its completion in 2015, Betsy Paterson Square has become the main space for everything from casual meetings between friends and neighbors to large special events, such as the Celebrate Mansfield Festival.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Elizabeth C. Paterson served as Mayor of Mansfield from 1999 to 2015. In 2016, the Town Council named the square “Betsy Paterson Square” in recognition of Mayor Paterson’s service to the Town, her leadership in redeveloping Downtown Storrs, and her role in advocating for and creating a public space to be used and enjoyed by all.
