SUMMER CONCERTS OF THE SQUARE: THE POSSM
The Mansfield Downtown Partnership and the Town of Mansfield host free concerts every Thursday in June and July on Betsy Paterson Square in Downtown Storrs. All performances will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. All of the concerts are free and open to the public. The rain dates are on the following Tuesday, unless otherwise noted.
Mansfield residents and friends will enjoy a diverse line-up of musical entertainment for all ages. Visitors are welcome to bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy the music with their friends and neighbors.
June 21: THE PROFESSORS OF SWEET, SWEET MUSIC
The Professors of Sweet, Sweet Music (The POSSM) have an infectious charm and enthusiasm for life. The POSSM style is energetic and ranges from classic rock to reggae to indie. They have become well known and loved in their hometown of Hartford, CT and are thankful for the support, inspiration and friendship given by their community. Off the stage they are surfers, composers, teachers, students, business owners, travelers and lovers of life. In 2018 they look forward to the release of their first full length album.
The POSSM were named “Best Band” in the 2017 and 2018 Best of Hartford readers poll by Hartford Magazine. They received Best Overall Band, Best Album, and Best Song in the 2017 CT Now Best of Hartford readers poll.

MANSFIELD SUZUKI STRING PROGRAM
The Mansfield Suzuki String Program, in partnership with the Suzuki Association of Mansfield, offers violin and cello lessons for students in grades K- 4 enrolled in the Mansfield Public Schools system. These lessons follow the Suzuki Method, a well- known and successful approach for teaching young children with the encouragement and participation of one or both parents.
hildren grades K-4 are eligible to enroll in the Suzuki program. No previous musical experience is necessary for children or parents. The only requirement for enrolling in the program is participation of a parent at lessons and group practices, and the parents will learn along with the child as they support and encourage one another.
The program is run by Barbara Vaughan, violin, and Sondra Boyer, cello, and with the help of parent volunteers.
COSTANZA
Costanza is an exciting young rock band based out of Mansfield, CT, featuring Ryan Sweeney on lead vocals, Jack Neumuth on guitar, Peter Tomanelli on bass, and Joe Lemieux on drums.
