We are EO Smith: Building Our Community
Open house event and community conversation
“We Are EO Smith: Building Our Community” is a groundbreaking, interactive, educational exhibit produced as a partnership between EO Smith and the Neag School of Education at UConn. The exhibit uses cutting-edge technology and engaging personal narratives and features a photography exhibit of members of the community to increase empathy; to reduce bias, antisemitism, and racism; and to build a stronger community.
Our society is encountering polarization and a worsening climate of intolerance. This project aims to help us consider how we can improve our communication and interpersonal interactions at school, work, and in the larger community.
Open House Event: Join us to experience the exhibit and participate in conversations with members of the community led by EOS students.
The exhibit features:
The Stories we Live: A photo exhibit of members of the community that unpacks their layers of identity by photographer Greg Miller.
IWitness: An interactive digital testimony from USC Shoah Foundation that helps us think about how identity impacts how we treat each other.
The Journey Back: A virtual reality tour of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp from the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
