In collaboration with UConn’s Puerto Rican / Latin American Cultural Center, Jorgensen Center presents a special Bomba Dance Cabaret with Movimiento Cultural, under the direction of Kevin Diaz, founder of Movimiento Cultural Afro-Continental (MCAC). Expect an evening full of singing, dancing, and drumming! The evening will open with UConn student performances.
The event will be held in Jorgensen’s intimate cabaret setting with candlelit tables. A cash bar will be available (cash or credit).
Movimiento Cultural Afro-Continental (MCAC), Inc. is a cultural, arts and community-based organization. Their mission is to educate people across Connecticut about Puerto Rico’s rich African-based folklore, music, dance, and other art forms – including the Bomba, the oldest Puerto Rican dance and music style rooted in resistance and dating back to the days of slavery.
*Cabaret Update as of 3/29: Dinner will NOT be provided as originally planned. The cost of each ticket will be for the performance only. Bar services will still be available (Cash or Credit).
